Winter School on Cremona Groups,
Geometry Topology and Algebraic Geometry.
January 6 - 10, 2020, Cuernavaca

The goal of the school is to discuss some topics in the interaction between Group Theory, Geometric Topology, and Algebraic Geometry, with particular emphasis in the theory of Cremona groups and its recent developments. It will be directed mainly toward graduate students and young postdocs.

  • Corey Bregman (Brandeis)
  • Yves Cornulier (CNRS - Lyon 1)
  • Alexander Duncan (U. of South Carolina)

  • Commensurating actions, with a view towards 1-dimensional dynamics and Cremona groups (Yves Cornulier)
  • Cremona groups in Higher dimensions (Susanna Zimmerman)
  • To be completed....

There will be around four mini-courses (each course between 3 to 4 lectures) and some additional one hour talks. We expect to have a lot of young participants (working on group actions/ geometric topology/ algebraic geometers) and the lectures to be mostly introductory.

The school will take place on Instituto de Matematicas UNAM in Cuernavaca (http://www.matcuer.unam.mx), in Mexico, on January 06-10, 2020. Cuernavaca is 90 minutes by car/bus from Mexico City International airport (depending on traffic).
