I am a full-time researcher at the Cuernavaca Unit of the Mathematics Institute of UNAM. I did undergraduate studies in mathematics at the Universidad de Sonora, I got a Masters degree from the Science Faculty at UNAM and later, an MSc. and Ph.D. degrees in Mathematics from Warwick University, England. In 1999 I was a Visiting Fellow at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Italy, and later I was appointed Regular Associate of the ICTP for the periods 2007-2012 and 2014-2021. I was on sabbatical leave at Columbia University in USA in 2012 and at Galatasaray Üniversitesi in Turkey in 2019. I am member of the National System of Researchers (SNI) and of the Mexican Academy of Sciences. My research areas are Algebraic and Differential Topology, Differential Geometry and Singularities. In my spare time I like reading, watching films and writing. |
