Resumen:

It is not known if some the main iterative algorithms to find eigenvectors of matrices are generally convergent. According to Batterson and Smillie one of the main one's is not.  I will describe some of the dynamics involved with respect to the QR algorithms with Rayleigh and Francis shifts. It would be important to know if these algorithms fail on open sets (which I suspect they all do).
