Resumen:

Tropical geometry is a relatively new subject that has received a lot of attention from the mathematical community in the last ten years. In Cuernavaca there is a small research team working in this area. In the course we will introduce the basic concepts of Tropical Goemetry: Newton polygon, polyhedral subdivision, tropical modifications, Groebner fan, and give some applications in singularity theory: Parametrizations of analytic spaces, inflexion points, Newton nondegenerate singularities.
