The Workshop in Global Riemannian Geometry will be held at the Math Institute of the National Autonomous University of Mexico in Cuernavaca (IMUNAM Cuernavaca) from May 11 - 17, 2008. The meeting will consist of two minicourses taught by two researchers and 18 to 22 research talks.  The workshop is structured so that beyond the formal program there will be many opportunities for intensive discussions.

The conference aims to disseminate mathematical knowledge to young participants, to strengthen the presence of Riemannian Geometry in Mexico, and to encourage geometric collaboration between Mexico, other countries in Latin America, the United States, Canada, and Europe.

The mini-courses will be taught by Professors Gerard Walschap and Karsten Grove, both of them are leading experts in the areas of Riemannian Submersions and Alexandrov Geometry respectively. The mini-courses will be aimed at graduate and upper level undergraduate students with the aim of enhancing their appreciation of the research component of the program. We will also have a Re-Introduction to Riemannian Geometry given by Fernando Galaz-Garcia. The course will serve to bring the students up to speed so that they can better appreciate the formal mini-courses and the research talks.

Many thanks to the Clay Mathematical Institute, CIMAT, CONACYT, the International Mathematics Union and the IMUNAM for funding this workshop giving us in particular the opportunity to invite many young mathematicians, post doctorates and graduate students. Without their support the organization of the workshop would not have been possible.
